United Airlines: Requiring all employees to be Vaccinated

United Airlines will require employees in the United States to take the Covid vaccine by October. The are one in a growing number of big corporations that are using their employment power to force people to make a choice between their “right” to “choose” or their ability to feed their families.

United has 67,000 employees in the United States and is the first major U.S. airline to mandate vaccination for workers. The company which started requiring vaccinations in mid-June; has also offered incentives to those that take the jab. They have come out and said that close to 80 % of the flight attendants are already vaccinated.

Company leaders called it a matter of safety and said there is “incredibly compelling” evidence of the effectiveness of the vaccines. CEO Scot Kirby came out and said, “We know some of you will disagree with this decision to require the vaccine for all United employees. President Brett Hart also told employees, that by forcing them albeit even if it’s against their will or at the loss of their job “everyone is safer when everyone is vaccinated.”

The airline told U.S. employees Friday that they will need to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 25 or five weeks after the Food and Drug Administration grants full approval to any one vaccine — whichever date comes first. So far, the FDA has only granted emergency-use approval of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Full approval is expected soon.

In addition to that they are taking a list from the democratic playbook and requiring that employees show their vaccination passport to the corporate authorities apparently. Stating that those who don’t will be “terminated” although they will grant exemptions for religious and health reasons only officials speaking on behalf of the company said.

Workers who comply with the Orwellian mandate will receive an extra day of pay, possible bonuses, and paid time off to go get the shot. A United executive said that at the moment they have no plans to require passengers to be vaccinated. Delta and American Airlines have also mandated, that new hires get the jab as well.
While some see this as a safety measure this also pushes people to make a choice between their freedom to choose and their ability to provide for their families.
