Thousands of French may lose covid passes

The French National Assembly approved changes to the nation’s coronavirus passport legislation to require booster shots of the vaccine to maintain the validity of their health pass.

As a result of this policy, as many as 560,000 French people who are fully vaccinated will lose their vaccination passes and thus their freedom to move freely in society according to Le Figaro.

Those aged 12-15 will still be able to keep the previous health pass, which would allow them to show their pass to attend public venues such as restaurants, clubs, or cinemas etc.

Some have theorized that the “French Senate” has made the way possible for full fledged vaccine control since under the new rule negative coronavirus screening tests would no longer being valid to enter public spaces such as cafes and restaurants, according to a France24 report.

The news of this change comes just over a week after French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to “piss off” unvaccinated individuals – a statement resulting in a 100,000 strong protest in opposition of vaccine passports on the 8th of January 2022.
