During an appearance on Mobile, AL radio FM talk 106.5 “Midday Mobile” Rep. Jerry Carl (R-AL) called on people to be aware that the pullout could have an emotional impact on military personnel that served in Afghanistan and urged listeners to be aware of any potential challenges those individuals could be facing.
“But one of the main concerns I have this morning is I was on a conference call, and they started talking about over the last the spike in suicide rates of our Afghanistan veterans,” Carl continued. “Let’s stop for just a second. All of us know one or more. We know an Afghanistan or Iraq warrior that has come home and tried to fit back into society after going through all of that.”
He has also encouraged people to not only reach out to those coming back, but to reach out to him about those that might be stuck in Afghanistan as the situation deteriorates and the Biden administration sends more troops and more troops to stabilize the airport and mount rescue operations. As they try and rescue many trapped from the sudden withdraw.
