If you haven’t been paying attention to the Michigan gubernatorial race, well you and most people probably are paying attention now. Embattled democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer has come under a plethora of scrutiny ranging from her nursing home policy that cost thousands of lives to the highest risk population. Which resulted in making up around 33% of all covid deaths in the state.
Well Michigan’s GOP candidate Tudor Dixon has decided that she is going to take on the governor and she is not limiting her fundraising to solely the great lakes region.
Why would Mrs. Dixon be going all out, well Whitmer is determined to retain power. Whimer has also held fundraisers in California and other states while the state was experiencing a big surge in Covid cases.
According to a Fox 19 report
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer attended cross-country fundraising events in California while her home state was leading the country in COVID-19 cases, according to campaign finance reports reviewed by Fox New Digital.
On Nov. 16, 2021, Detroit News headlines said “Michigan leads the nation in new COVID cases,” and “Michigan is now the worst COVID-19 hot spot in nation.” That same day, Whitmer was in California for a fundraising event, according to the 2021 fundraising reports.
The event was held at a private residence in Los Angeles, and Whitmer raised approximately $78,000 from the appearance. This was one stop on an apparent multi-day trip to California.
Whitmer according to Bridge Michigan has already begun amassing a sizable war chest raking in over 14 million dollars and growing for her campaign last year alone.
While Trump has yet to offer an official endorsement to her campaign it looks like she is hoping to receive it and the possible spotlight that could bring.
