DOJ suing Texas over redistricting lines (video)

Justice department announced that it is suing Texas over its redistricting plans. This is the 3rd time that the Biden administration has sued Texas since they’ve been in office. Attorney General Merrick Garland said the plans, “deny the rights of Latino and Black voters on account of their race.”

He went on to say, “The department’s career voting law experts have assessed Texas’s new redistricting plans and determined that they include districts that violate the Voting Rights Act.”

Although generally it is the democrats who have arbitrated for redistricting lines. Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta said leveled a charge that this was not the “first time that Texas has acted to minimize the voting rights…”

leveling the accusation at the friendship state especially in light of the Texas legislature taking measures to make their elections more secure and fair. The Biden administration has come after them using the power of the DOJ.
